Podensac [pɔdɛ̃sak] is a commune in the South-West of France, situated in the département of the Gironde, in the région of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
A little history
Guillaume IV Seguin, seigneur baron de Rions-sur-Garonne, seigneur de Virelade, Cérons, Barsac, Illats, Bommes, Loupiac de Cadillac, and other fiefs in Benauges, co-seigneur de Castets-en-Dorthe and Podensac, married, around 1275, Mathe d'Albret, legitimate daughter of Amanieu VI, sire d'Albret, and of Mathe de Bordeaux, the latter being the daughter of Pierre de Bordeaux, seigneur de Puyguilhem. At the beginning of the 13th century, the seigneury of Podensac belonged to the Calhau family. Miramonde de Calhau brought the seigneury as an inheritance to Bernard III d'Escoussan, seigneur de Langoiran. His granddaughter Mabille d'Escoussan passed it on to the d'Albret family, through her marriage in 1345 to Amanieu d'Albret.
