A little history
The rock shelter of the Rocher de l'Impératrice at Plougastel-Daoulas is a rock shelter approximately 10 metres long and two to three metres deep, situated at the foot of the great ridge of Armorican sandstone that outcrops along the left bank of the lower valley of the Élorn, which flows into the rade de Brest. Discovered during the storm of 1987 by Michel Le Goffic, departmental archaeologist for Finistère, it has been excavated since 2013 by a team from the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis led by Nicolas Naudinot.
