A little history
Several monuments dating from the Neolithic period (6,000 years ago) bear witness to activity several millennia ago on the lands of the present-day commune. However, few menhirs, dolmens and tumuli remain intact today. The disappearance, or destruction, of these vestiges is explained by the rise of agricultural activity and the quarrying of kaolin, among other things. For example, on 24 December 1861, a farmer, François Le Dessert, discovered on his plot of Parc en Groas, at the foot of a ruined calvary (the Croix de Kerham), pierres de foudre to which multiple virtues were attributed at the time (these popular beliefs were then very much alive).
