Plaudren [plodʁɛ̃] is a French commune situated in the canton of Grand-Champ and the département of Morbihan, in the région of Bretagne. Its inhabitants are called the Plaudrinois and Plaudrinoises.
A little history
At Goh-Ilis, an octagonal construction in thick masonry with rendered walls painted red and white was identified by Louis Marsille as the remains of a Gallo-Roman fanum. On 30 May 1795, during the Chouannerie, the republicans seized the camp of Saint-Bily, following a battle against the chouans. Many inhabitants of Plumelec, Plaudren, Saint-Jean-Brévelay, etc. took part in the legitimist demonstration of 29 September 1889 at Sainte-Anne-d'Auray. The monument aux morts of Plaudren bears the names of 95 soldiers who died for France during the First World War.
