A little history
To set off on crusade, in 1097 Godefroy de Bouillon sold the county of Verdun to the bishop Richer. The latter handed the county over to Godefroy's brother, Baudouin de Bouillon. But the latter decided a little later to rejoin his brother and sold the county back to the bishop. It is said that, setting off on crusade, he passed through Piennes where the bridge over the stream bears his name, the Pont Baudouin.
