A little history
The granting of the first concessions in the South by the governor Antoine Boucher dates from the end of 1727. Although the real owners of these lands resided in Saint-Paul, they entrusted their management to around ten Creole concession holders, tasked with growing coffee, fruit and vegetables there. These included Hoarau, Rivière, Nativel, Bellon, Folio... Some other inhabitants were reformed pirates, Edouard Robert and Thomas Elgar, and sons of pirates (Noël and Folio).
