Parentis-en-Born (pronounced [paʁɑ̃tis ɑ̃ bɔʁn], Parentís, in Occitan) is a commune in the South-West of France, situated in the département des Landes, in the région Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Parentis-en-Born is the third most important town in the Pays de Born after Mimizan and Biscarrosse. It covers 11,155 hectares to the east of the lac de Parentis-Biscarrosse, the second largest in the Landes by surface area (3,540 ha).
A little history
The coastal Roman road crosses the territory of the present-day commune. Part of its route is now below the water level of the lac de Biscarrosse et de Parentis. Parentis is the seat of the archiprêtré de Buch et de Born, which was dependent on the archevêché de Bordeaux and was divided in two in the second half of the 14th century. The église de Mimizan is the landowner of part of Parentis.
