A little history
The territory of the commune of Mions is situated in the south-west of the plain of Velin at an altitude of approximately 210 metres. Urbanisation developed to the west of the hill that sheltered the old château perched at 253 metres and which extends eastwards over 4 kilometres as far as the commune of Toussieu. This hill, approximately 1 km wide and free of dwellings, reaches its highest point at the château d'eau at 268 metres. This topography is characteristic of the whole of the pays du Velin.
