A little history
A hippopotamus canine tooth dating from prehistory was discovered at Radet and is preserved at the Musée Victor-Aubert. In the Gallo-Roman period, the site of Maule belonged to the Gaulish tribe of the Carnutes. It was colonised by the Romans, as attested by traces of dwellings on the hills of Pousse-Motte. A very ancient settlement, the locality is crossed by a Roman road and, between 1959 and 1960, 933 burials ranging from the 1st to the 7th century were uncovered.
