A little history
The plateau that overlooks Malzéville was occupied at various periods of protohistory. Excavations in the 19th century revealed several groups of tumuli, the remains of a cyclopean wall at the lieu-dit La Trinité, vestiges of an iron foundry at the butte Sainte-Geneviève, as well as black pottery and polished stone axes. A village of the former duchy of Lorraine, Malzéville is mentioned for the first time in a charter of Duke Simon Ier in 1130. In 1246, the monks of Clairlieu had a mill built on the Meurthe above the bridge at Malzéville.
