A little history
The history and fate of Lissieu are linked to the fact that the village lies on the route of the ancient prehistoric and later Celtic commercial road, which became a Roman road, then a royal road, and finally the route nationale 6. At 15 km from Lugdunum, halfway through a day's journey at the pace of oxen and horses, Lissieu rapidly became a stopping point for travellers, first as a mutatio in Roman times, then as a coaching inn. Occupation of the commune's site is thought to date from the Roman period based on two early discoveries. The Bois de la Réserve revealed an embankment containing tiles and daub, though the dating is not certain.
