A little history
The first men settled as early as the 3rd century BC, some 2.5 km to the west of the chief town, on the oppidum de Teste-Nègre. This fortified defensive site, located to the north of the chaîne de la Nerthe, dominates the plain of Marignane and the ravin des Poiriers from a height of 120 m. It allowed its occupants to guard against all enemy attacks.
