A little history
The discovery on the commune in 1906 of a polished axe from the Neolithic period attests to the antiquity of the settlement. Over the centuries, Le Taillan-Médoc has seen various occupations, the traces or remains of which still survive today. These include a Roman road (the « lébade »), the church, the « vieille maison », the châteaux de la Dame Blanche, du Lout, de Bussaguet and de Lagorce, and numerous estates such as Lahaye and Piche-bouc. One of the oldest recorded testimonies to date appears to be the « vieille maison », a private residence situated in the old village of Le Taillan. The history of the various constructions built on this site spans at least a thousand years.
