Landiras (pronounced [lɑ̃diʁas], Landiràs, L'Andiran(s) or Landiran(s) in Gascon) is a commune in the south-west of France, situated in the département of Gironde (région Nouvelle-Aquitaine). Its inhabitants are called the Landiranais.
A little history
For the situation of the commune in the 18th century, see the work by Jacques Baurein. At the Revolution, the parish of Saint-Martin de Landiras formed the commune of Landiras. In year IX (1800–1801), the commune of Guillos was attached to that of Landiras, which became Landiras-et-Guillos. In 1850, the commune of Landiras was re-established by the separation of the commune of Landiras-et-Guillos.
