A little history
In Antiquity, the site was crossed by the Roman road known as the Narbonnaise, which linked Lugdunum (Lyon) to Arelate (Arles). This Roman road, for its Mulatine section, is located on the site of the current chemin des Fontanières. The site was a former Roman residential quarter. The name La Mulatière is thought to derive from a Lyonnais magistrate, Clément Mulat, Consul de Lyon in 1479–1480 and then in 1483, who gave his name to a grange, an estate situated between the chemin des Fontanières and the quai Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
