A little history
The working of the ancient iron mines is believed to date back to the Gallo-Roman period. The name La Ferrière appears in texts around 1300 through the church of La Ferrière (ecclesiae de Ferreria). This ancient église Sainte-Radégonde was served by the abbaye de Mauléon. In the 19th century it was demolished and in its place a Neo-Gothic style church was built.
