La Brède is a commune in the south-west of France, situated in the département of the Gironde, in the région of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, known for being the birthplace of the philosopher Montesquieu.
A little history
Nécropole de Perbos. The tumuli of Perbos (or Perbost or Prévost) are in the south of the commune, on the edge of the commune of Saint-Morillon, approximately 500 m to the south of the hamlet of Perbos. This necropolis is at the southern tip of a group of "giant" tumuli found across coastal Brittany and the Centre-Ouest, dated to no earlier than the 4th millennium before our era. It is mentioned in writing for the first time at the end of the 18th century by the abbé Baurein, who notes that this part of the lande is called "lous Courrejots, near the village of Prévost".
