A little history
The commune is a former limestone islet situated in the gulf of the Pictons. It was the Gallo-Roman INSULA de ELLA (archaeology, Gallo-Roman villa at the lieu-dit la Gueriniere, with numerous decorated samian ware sherds and grey pottery, as well as numerous TEGULEA, bronzes and coins).
