A little history
In 1773, the general manager of the marquisate of Noirmoutier, Joseph Marie Joubert des Ouches (1736-1807), acquired eight hectares of land at the place known as Grand Cairuy. On this land, he had the manor built that would become the château de L'Épine, nicknamed Monplaisir. The following year, in 1774, he had walls erected to enclose the estate. Through his daughter Andrée Suzanne (1768-1828) and then through his granddaughter Désirée Maublanc (1805-1843), Monplaisir passed into the hands of François Plantier (1798-1877), mayor of Noirmoutier from 1833 to 1839.
