A little history
Around 1200, Renaud de Forez, Archbishop of Lyon from 1193 to 1226, had a castle built on a hillside to the south of Lyon to protect the interests he held on the Rhône. The village of Irigny gathered around this castle. Until 1592, the Archbishop of Lyon was the lord of Irigny. The seigneurie d'Irigny was sold to Jehan Croppet on 31 August 1592.
