A little history
The église Saint-Pierre is the oldest religious building in the commune and is the historic centre of the town, with the old village having been mentioned as early as 1239. The forge known as the forge de Herserange was founded in 1553 at the lieu-dit le Breuil de l'Aulnois. It is often considered to be the first blast furnace in Lorraine. It was part of the bailliage de Longwy from 1685 to 1789.
