Heillecourt is a French commune situated in the département of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in the Grand Est region. It is located between the towns of Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy, Jarville-la-Malgrange, Laneuveville-devant-Nancy, Fléville-devant-Nancy and Houdemont. Its inhabitants are called Heillecourtois.
A little history
Little information exists about Heillecourt in the Middle Ages, other than mentions of donations. Comes de Morey donated the property he owned there to the priory of Flavigny in 1254. A little later, in 1287, Ferry III de Lorraine, Duke of Lorraine, ceded his rights over "la ville de Haillecourt" to Dom Henri, the prior of Varangéville, in exchange for the right to levy at Saint-Martin's Day "vingt réseaux d'avoine" — an old unit of measure — and to retain his rights of justice there. The 12th century had seen a church, but we have no details about its construction.
