Ham, the town

Ham [am] is a French commune situated in the department of la Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France. A former industrial town, the commune was hard hit by the deindustrialisation of the late twentieth century. It is the seat of the communauté de communes de l'Est de la Somme.
A little history
The existence of a place that subsequently became Ham is attested during the Roman period as a crossing point over the Somme. The settlement is mentioned for the first time in 932 as a possession of the lord Erard, the younger son of a count of Ponthieu. The town was then conquered by the count Herbert II de Vermandois. In 1108, the abbaye Notre-Dame de Ham was founded in Ham, an abbey of regular canons that preserves the relics of saint Waneng.
