A little history
Before becoming a commune, Guignes was a hamlet in the parish of Yèbles. In the Middle Ages, the history of Guignes and the hamlet of Vitry was linked to that of the lords of Coubert. The feudal manor belonged to the families Vitry-Tournan, Villiers (related to the Villiers de L'Isle-Adam), Montmorency, then to the l'Hospital-Vitry, a family of Italian origin. In 1488, the lord of the village of Guignes was Adrien de L'Hospital.
