A little history
The pays de Guer-Coëtquidan experienced its first human occupation in the Stone Age, as testified by numerous megaliths still standing today, principally at the lieu-dit "les Pierres droites", on the heights of Monteneuf. The current territory of Guer was crossed by a Roman road (which ran from Rennes (Condate Riedonum) and Juliomagus (Angers) to Carhaix (Vorgium)), known in the Early Middle Ages as the "chaussée d'Ahès", and still at the beginning of the 20th century as "la Roanne" (a corruption of "la Romaine"), which came from Carentoir and headed towards Caro, via Guer and Monteneuf.
