Guégon [gegɔ̃] is a French commune situated in the département of Morbihan, in the region of Bretagne.
A little history
A Chouan riot in which inhabitants of Guégon took part, followed by a pitched battle between the Bleus of Josselin and the Chouans of Guégon, took place in 1792 halfway between Guégon and Josselin. A band of Chouans commanded by Pierre Guillemot (le roi de Bignan) is known by the name of bande de Permabon, after a hamlet in the parish of Coat Bugeat, situated between Guégon and Cruguel. Twelve members of this Chouan movement have been identified, of whom at least three lived in Guégon, namely Yves Robert, Esprit Ollivier and Pierre Guihur. In 1854 the commune of Guégon, as well as numerous surrounding communes, was ravaged by an epidemic of dysentery.
