A little history
The village is mentioned for the first time in 1083, at the time of the foundation of the abbaye Maria Munster de Luxembourg by the comte Konrad I, where Gorcy is counted among the possessions of the abbey. In 1278, the village, along with the rest of the châtellenie de Longwy of which it formed part, was ceded back to the maison de Bar by Ferry III. The village then formed part of the possessions of the families de Gorcy until 1530, of the Bernards from 1530 to 1725, and finally of La Martinière from 1727 until the French Revolution.
