Gargenville is a French commune situated in the département of Yvelines in the Île-de-France region. It is a small town situated along the Seine, 45 km to the west of Paris. Together with the neighbouring commune of Issou, it forms a conurbation of approximately 10,000 inhabitants.
A little history
Before the Revolution, Gargenville was made up of two fiefs, the domain of Hanneucourt and that of Moufle de la Tuilerie. In 1790, they were united and formed the new municipality, which at that time had 990 inhabitants. At the beginning of the 19th century a water coach, la Galiote, linked Rolleboise to Poissy. It carried passengers and goods alike and was widely used.
