A little history
A feudal motte has been identified on the communal territory. As early as 1185, Hugues de Friville is also cited as lord of Béthencourt. In 1214, the cartulary of the abbaye de Séry mentions Laurent, lord of Friville, a knight and son of Girold, who confirms the donation of five journaux of land made by his uncle Willaume de Friville to the abbey. The Coppequesne family were lords of Friville from 1419 to 1789.
