The 11th largest town in the département and the 5th in the aire urbaine agenaise, which has a population of 103,715 inhabitants, it lies at the heart of the communauté d'agglomération Agglomération d'Agen, whose population stands at 92,042 inhabitants, and of the aire d'attraction d'Agen.
A little history
The commune of Foulayronnes was created on 29 October 1795. It is the fountain situated near the église Saint-Martin in the Vallon de Vivés (the present-day Vallon de Vérone) that foreshadows the birth certificate. This spring is known by the Latin name FONS LATRONUM, meaning Fontaine des Voleurs. During the many pilgrimages to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, the vallon served as a secondary route allowing pilgrims coming from the north of France to join the main road of the Ténarèze.
