A little history
The site of Agen was in all likelihood inhabited at least as far back as the Neolithic period. A settlement of Iberian origin in the 8th and 7th centuries BC is attested on the plateau de l'Ermitage by the remains currently available to us. This position on a rocky spur holds the key to the toponymy of the city.
