A little history
Nestled today between the green, wooded hills that overlook the first terraces and the lower valley of the Lot, the site of Villeneuve already had a long history at the end of the La Tène period, with the transport installations, between paths and the powerful waterway Oldus, of the Nitiobroges[unclear]. The Roman occupation developed the ancient site of Eysses, known in Latin as Excisum, approximately one kilometre north of the current town centre, at the crossroads of two major communication routes.
