Roman coins, helmets, swords and stone tombs were found in large quantities. They suggest that Flixecourt was the seat of a Roman villa. The motte-and-bailey of Flixecourt was situated near the mills on the left bank of the Nièvre. The old château, built on the motte, disappeared at the end of the Ancien Régime. The motte-and-bailey was levelled in October 2020.
