Feyzin covers 9.6 km², lies between 155 and 234 m above sea level and had 10,304 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Feyzin is a French commune situated in the métropole de Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its inhabitants are called the Feyzinois and Feyzinoises.
A little history
In 1241, the seigneury of Feyzin was held by the family de Chandieu, which was itself dependent on the comtes de Savoie (Hommage de 1241, Chorier, histoire du Dauphiné). In 1287, however, an arbitral ruling between the archevêque de Vienne and the comte de Savoie awarded the château and the mandement de Feyzin to the prelate and the church of Vienne. Around 1310, the family Chandieu relinquished its rights (seigneury and high justice) to the comte de Savoie. Feyzin was then attached to Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon, and in 1355 the village, a Savoyard enclave in Dauphiné, became part of Dauphiné under the treaty signed that same year between France and Savoie.
