Éragny-sur-Oise, and formerly Éragny until 31 December 2025, is a French commune situated in the département of Val-d'Oise in the Île-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Éragniens.
A little history
At the beginning of the 12th century, the lands and the village, which bore the name of Érigny, belonged to the monks of the abbaye de Saint-Martin-des-Champs. Situated on the cliff facing north and overlooking the Oise, Éragny was no more than a very modest village until the 20th century. It was in 1564 that Jean d'Alesso, whose father had come from Italy with saint François de Paule, purchased the seigneurie d'Éragny. Their coat of arms, azure with a saltire or cantoned with four snails argent, served as the basis for that of the town.
