A little history
The châtellenie of Coëx was part of the baronnie of Apremont. A priory existed between the villages of la Cour (the priory courtyard) and la Clergerie (the place where the clergy resided). After the Revolution, opinion was fairly divided. The priest and his curate refused to swear an oath to the civil constitution of the clergy and had to leave Coëx.
