The clearing in the land of alders has been occupied since the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the discovery of flint weapons and tools. In the medieval period, Clichy-sous-Bois was a clearing in the forêt de Bondy, which extended until the 19th century from Bondy to Coubron and covered the entire region. This land, rich in pastures and vineyards, was granted by King Dagobert in 632 to the abbaye de Saint-Denis. The place subsequently belonged to the lords of Livry, whilst the parish was under the authority of the abbaye de Livry.
