Châteldon is a French commune situated in the département of Puy-de-Dôme, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is a member of the Parc naturel régional Livradois-Forez.
A little history
Under the Ancien Régime, Châteldon was part of the châtellenie de Billy in the Bourbonnais. Béatrix de Châteldon (born around 1150) married Guillaume III de Montluçon, seigneur de Montluçon, Saint-Julien (Saint-Julien-le-Châtel), Saint-Gérand-le-Puy. Her son Guillaume IV was seigneur de Montluçon and de Châteldon and paid homage for Châteldon to the comte d'Auvergne. He died without issue and his brother Archambaud de Saint-Gérand transferred, in August 1200, the suzerainty of Châteldon to the sire de Bourbon.
