A little history
Until 1789, Chanteloup was a hamlet of Triel and it was only from that period onwards that it was formed into a commune. Its territory was separated from that of Triel but also from a hamlet of Andrésy, Le Chapitre, which was under the parish of Andrésy. The cahier de doléances of Chanteloup states that the village comprised 240 hearths with 800 inhabitants and that its territory was enclosed within 4 different prévôtés and that it was almost impossible to know before which judge the inhabitants should bring a case against wrongdoers causing damage in the vineyards, the sole crop of Chanteloup.
