A little history
The acquisition of the territory of Champagney, which belonged to the Archbishop of Besançon, by Lothaire II in 869 is recorded. This territory was acquired by the abbaye de Lure in the 12th century. In 1479, a Charte de franchises was drawn up in favour of a number of inhabitants, and was then extended to the entire population in 1547. In the 15th century, disputes broke out between the abbots of Lure and the lords of Ronchamp over the boundaries of their respective territories regarding the sharing of pastures and forestry operations.
