A little history
The site was inhabited as early as the Palaeolithic. Archaeological excavations, carried out on the hillsides of Chanturgue and Châteaugay, as well as in the valley of the Bédat, brought to light the existence of flint tools or domestic animal bones, as well as other objects dated to the Neolithic period, from 5,500 to 1,800 years before the common era. At the end of the 1st century BC, the village known as Sabascum became a settlement of primary importance.
