Castets (pronounced [kastɛts], Castèths in Gascon) is a commune in the South-West of France, situated in the département des Landes (région Nouvelle-Aquitaine).
A little history
In 1881, the discovery at Castets of several barbed arrowheads as well as other flint implements attests to the occupation of the territory by Neolithic man. Tradition has it that a dolmen existed near the church. Before the Roman occupation, Castets was within the territory of the Aquitanian people of the Cocosates. During the Pax Romana, this people was annexed together with that of the Tarbelles upon the creation of the Novempopulanie.
