Brindas [bʁɛ̃da] is a French commune, situated near Lyon, in the département du Rhône in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its inhabitants are called the Brindasiens.
A little history
No evidence of occupation has been recorded during the Roman and early Middle Ages periods, either archaeologically or bibliographically. In 994, the charter of Dénombrement des possessions de l'Église métropolitaine de Lyon mentions for the first time the church of Saint-Romain de Briendaco. The site hosts on a hillock a feudal château rebuilt in the 16th century for the chanoines-comtes de Lyon. Brindas remained for a long time isolated and poor, cut off by its geography, until the construction of the main roads over the period 1820–1850.
