A little history
The creation of the village in an area covered with forests most likely dates back to the 11th century. In the 17th century the land was purchased by Louis XIV, who created a pond intended to supply the basins of the château de Versailles with water. On 27 March 1874, a law provided for the construction of the fort de Saint-Cyr, intended to protect the town of Saint-Cyr-l'École, hence its name, even though the fort was located in the commune of Bois-d'Arcy. It is currently within the commune of Montigny-le-Bretonneux, following modifications to the territorial boundaries between the two communes.
