A little history
A medieval and modern cemetery, in use from the 11th century to the 17th century, discovered during a preventive excavation by the Inrap in 2021–2022, and situated 300 m from the parish church, raises questions due to its distance from the place of worship, the density of 668 burials within a restricted area of 300 m², and the number of those interred, which far exceeds the 57 hearths recorded for the village of Aulnat in the mid-14th century. The commune was affected by both the wars of 1914–1918 and 1939–1945, and was particularly marked by the bombardment of April 1944.
