A little history
During the Gallo-Roman period, at the lieu-dit Maignan, a craft area used for pitch production was revealed by an archaeological dig carried out in 2009 and 2012. In 1500, the captalat de Certes was born from the division of the captalat de Buch. Two villages coexisted, Certes and Vieux-Bourg (Audenge). In 1620, Jean Castaing known as le Broy (le Joli), a merchant from la Teste, purchased the barony of Audenge.
