A little history
Archaeological research work has led to the discovery on the territory of the commune of an occupation dating from the Upper Palaeolithic attributed to the Aurignacian culture (-38,000 to -28,000 years). The site has yielded a whole collection of knapping products associated with imported flint tools. There is evidence of a significant Gallo-Roman occupation (villa?) at the lieu-dit la ferme de Coinville. Other Gallo-Roman sites have been identified on the territory of the commune.
