Aubergenville is a French commune in the département of Yvelines, in the Île-de-France region, situated along the Seine, 41 km to the west of Paris, 13 km to the east of Mantes-la-Jolie and 4.5 km to the west of Les Mureaux. This commune is located on the banks of the Seine.
A little history
Aubergenville was situated on the route nationale 190 from Saint-Germain-en-Laye to Mantes-la-Jolie. The historian Émile Réaux supposes that a Gaulish village succeeding a prehistoric encampment was situated lower down than its current location, and that it was crossed by the Route de quarante sous (RN 13). Indeed, polished stone axes, bronze and iron arrowheads, ornaments and pottery were discovered there. The original village was in all likelihood abandoned at the time of the Norman invasions.
