A little history
On the afternoon of Sunday 10 May 1840, peasants from the Bordeaux region discovered, on the bank of a stream flowing through the territory of the commune of Artigues, the body of a young woman who had clearly been murdered, as her face, which showed numerous marks of blows, was completely disfigured. The murderer, who would confess to a third murder in Paris, was named Pierre-Vincent Eliçabide and was guillotined in Bordeaux on 3 November 1840 in the courtyard of the prison du Hâ, situated in Bordeaux.
