Arlanc (prononciation) is a French commune situated in the département of Puy-de-Dôme, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is a member of the parc naturel régional Livradois-Forez.
A little history
In 1854, Arlanc did not yet have running water. One of the causes of the cholera epidemic of 1849 was the pollution of the town's rainwater. Claude-Achille Chassaigne (1823-1895, mayor of Arlanc from 23 March 1852 to 1878, then from 1884 to 1888) devoted himself to this vast matter, he secured the voting of funds and had sources sought out. Things dragged on, however, then the war of 1870 arrived, which placed a heavy burden on the town hall's budget.
